Susie Novis Durie Research Grants

When we sent out the call for applications for GMAN’s Susie Novis Durie Grant, we knew that we would be reviewing proposals for many innovative and important projects focused on improving the lives of myeloma patients. We were thrilled by the overabundance of ideas that are so worthy of funding, and we wish we could have supported many more of your initiatives! I am happy to share with you summaries of the projects that were selected after much consideration.

GMAN members play a critical role in improving the lives of myeloma patients in their countries. We are fighting against a global disease, identifying priorities and supporting innovative solutions. The projects chosen for Susie Novis Durie Grant 2018 show great promise and were selected for both their creativity and awareness of the current landscape in multiple myeloma.

About the Grant

The Susie Novis Durie Educational Grants seek to recognize creativity and excellence in meeting the educational needs of patients and/or caregivers. Selected programs/initiatives will have demonstrable impact on the lives of patients, family members, or caregivers.

These grants are intended to honor Susie and her tireless efforts towards improving the lives of myeloma patients around the world. Like Susie, GMAN and its members are focused on the issues affecting myeloma patients and the Susie Novis Durie Educational Grant is one more tool to help members further their goals.

About Susie Novis Durie

Susie Novis Durie not only cofounded the International Myeloma Foundation, but also pioneered the patient education movement by creating the first ever Patient and Family seminar. For the first time in the history of any disease, patients were able to listen and learn from clinicians and network with other patients. The IMF’s Patient and Family Seminars have now been around for over twenty years.
